Hey!

I'm getting married at the 9 Muses in Skala next month!

It's very normal for your wedding pack to take that long. We were told upto 7 weeks. Don't worry about not having a lot to do, it's very normal. You will have legal paperwork to do, but that's only valid for 3 months, so you'll have to wait 3 months before your wedding to start it. If you've booked with First Choice or Thompsons they won't put you in touch with a wedding planner until about 3 months before the wedding, so all you can do is plan as much out in your head and get your dress etc!

I've done A LOT of research going into this wedding, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Where are you getting married?

Hello, I am getting married in June this year in Fiskardo in Kefalonia. I have begun to look into the legal documentation that we need.

The advice I have been given is as follows - please can anyone advise me if this is correct??

It sounds very confusing!

- 3 months before our wedding we need to arrange to get a Certificate of no impediment to Marriage

- Both our birth certificates and the Certificate of no impediment to marriage need to be translated by an official translator recognized by the Greek Embassy, then sent to the Commonwealth Office to be verified and stamped with the Apostile, then to the Greek Embassy who must apply the Greek seal to each verified document. Do we do all of this in the UK??

- We need to send the originals of our birth certificates and the Certificate of no impediment to marriage and photocopies of our passports

I would be very grateful for any advice you can give me.

Many thanks, Esther

Hi,
We are considering getting married in either kefalonia or santorini spring-summer time next year.

Im sorry i cant answer youre query re all the legallities.

Someone told me yesterday that weddings there are not legal here, but i thought you need to register the detail here at your local registry of BDMs prior to the wedding. This is right isnt it? Surely that part is just like registering a death (unfortunately had to do that 7 yrsago!)

We have awhole heap of ?s to ask and details to find out before we decide on date and destination.
a: what temperature will it be there in april or aug?
B: Do under 2s fly free ( we have 8 mth old twin girls)?
c: how long can your passport expiry date be?

Im sure there are more but at teh mo i cant think.

 regards
Clare

That is correct, but you'll need your full birth certificates with both of your parents named (you can apply for these online if you only have the short original birth certificate). You'll also need any documents for proof of name change or divorce if they apply.

Some translators offer this as a service. Ours is Androulla Veliotu and you just send her the documents and the money and she does everything for you and sends it back. This costs just short of £500 for the 4 standard documents with an additional fee per document if either of you need any of the others.

Hope this helps :)
