Hi ladies (and any brave gents!)...

I know there are loads of different threads out there about dates but thought it might be nice to chat with people who are working along the same time line! We might even find a date twin!

My date is Saturday 17th August 2013.

Hope to hear from other August 2013 brides so we can share ideas and help each other along our stressful way!

Aww we could have been date twins! My original date was the 3rd but then that venue fell through (much to my annoyance and stress levels!!) and we had to re-book somewhere else!

Im always too late with starting these threads - i ment to wait until there was a few 2013 brides pop up and do it but forgot - seems like ive been waiting forever!! Last day of August for us! 31st! For no other reason than the numbers look even (31.8.13) lol

I love how you've done it for it looking even! That is SO like something I would do. Unfortunately, we had 17th August as our latest possible date. I am a primary school teacher and if we wanted a honeymoon straight after then I needed to be back on English soil by Sept 1st hehe.

I have no idea why, It just looked right lol, We did want 12.12.12 and have a winter wedding but changed our mind when we had the horific snow up here in the NE, a lot of our guests are travelling and id hate to feel resposible for them getting stranded or having an accident! Summer it was!!!

So how are you ladies getting on with the planning?We've booked our photographer and venue, decided on our colour scheme, cosen favours, decided on menu(finally!), kind of sorted ceremony and a few other things which I can't quite remember now as h2b is bothering me so he can give me a foot massage!

We have sorted the venue, photographer and colour scheme.  We are going to see a band at a wedding fair in march with the potential of booking them for the evening.  Its all very exciting...I dont know what I will do with myself after the wedding when there is no more planning to be done!

I'm going to look at some more wedding fayres in Spring. I went to a couple over last summer pretty soon after we got engaged, but everything seemed so far away then and I didnt take much away with me other than excitement hehe. Now I can officially say the wedding is 'next year', I'm going to go to all the fairs I can!!

I have a massive wedding day tomorrow!! Im sooo excited!! We first have to go to ceremony venue and pay deposit eeeek!! Its about time - its only been penciled in a year!! lol! Then a big wedding/event supplier is having a show case day so were going there afterwards, Then ive got to dash off to get the bridesmaids shoes my MOH found in a sale Then to meet our tog, before running some errands and then picking up my Bridemaid and MOH to try dresses on with shoes, then having a few hours out with them in and having a weddingy catch up!! Sooo excited!!

yay katyt88! i have a date twin!

I have booked the venue, registrar, photographer and the caterer. I have also put the deposit down on my dress. Looking to go some local wedding fayre's over the next few months. Need to decide on entertainment. I think we know who will be doing our flowers but are yet to confirm and decide what we want. Colour scheme will involve hot pink and probably ivory. My mum is making my cake, but I havent fully decided what to have yet, just been looking for different ideas.

woo I have been waiting for this thread to come up as it means I'm not the crazy one who is booking their wedding far too far in advance and also means our wedding is a little closer!

NewMrsG we are also 3rd August, my date twin!!!

magicbeans I am also a primary teacher so needed to be back from honeymoon by 1st Sept. We are going for a 3 week tour of Italy and needed to be flexible and departure dates because he are (hopefully, fingers crossed) nabbing a flight on a private jet with a friend of ours. He can only do it enroute to picking up a client so we had to have at least a week flexibility!

Reddevil I have been excited to find someone else thats having a marquee wedding, and now realising you are Aug 2013 as well is exciting!

We booked the venue a few months ago and have booked the registrar this week, got the confirmation letter this morning, its all real!! We know what we are having for pretty much everything, I am making most of the things myself or getting friends to help out so all the designs are done and now christmas is out of the way I can start buying materials and start making things! We have been to see a few bands but yet to make a decision on that. We have a friends mum making the cake and another friend (who is a professional tog) doing the photos along with her business partner who we are getting a discount for. We got a letter this week asking us to go to an open day to look at the marquee we would like (we have already got a quote etc but he wants to show us some erected marquees to work out exactly our requirements). I got so frustrated at having to wait for things to be booked that I bought the materials and started making my ring pillow, its something small that I can do and still feel that I am doing something, will post a pic when its finished, I am hand embroidering a quote on it so it will take a while!

Sorry I am rambling loads its just so exciting!! Can't believe some of you have booked your caterers, I have chosen the caterer I would like to use and got a quote from them etc just need to get in touch to go for a tasting but I was going to wait until the spring.

p.s. as anyone got anything they can flash??

We are just hiring the downstairs for the ceremony and the garden for the reception, we are hoping to be outdoors most of the day and then we have got a marquee for the garden. Would have liked to hire the whole place but it would be so expensive as we have so many guests we would still need the marquee as well!

Me and H2B would have loved a barn wedding. Unfortunately there were too expensive or would have required lots of travel so we decided against it in the end.

Sooo excited that we have a flash request!! Here's as much as I have planned/hoping to have...

Venue (officially booked):



Dress (not bought, but these are a couple I like...):




For my hair, I don't want anything too OTT. I want a shoulder length simple veil. No tiara. A flower would look nice and summery I think. And hair pulled out of my face:








At the moment (as long as H2B doesnt change his mind...AGAIN!), we are on a sage-green colour theme. At least I think its sage. Tell me what you think...

Bridesmaid dresses:




Flowers (again...just ideas):

I LOVE lillies (regardless of them being a funeral flower traditionally), and our theme is green/cream so here are some bouquets I like the look of...





For bridesmaids I'm thinking of wrist corsages or very small/simple bouquets.






Cake

I am heading towards a cup cake wedding cake with a top tier, but H2B prefers traditional 3 tier wedding cake.






Centre piecess, I am terrible on decision making. Here are some things I (or should I be saying 'we'... lol) like:

I could go on forever...I have a whole folder filled with pictures lol. But i'll leave it there for now.

haha magicbeans you sound like me... I don't have much booked/ordered but I can flash all the ideas I have come up with so far:

This is the venue:


The stationery I am making all myself. I have done a mock up of the invitations
 
and the rest of the stationery will match. I am also making table names (which are photos of our parents and grandparents weddings) and we are having personalised toblerone which matches our stationery and will double up as a place name and favour.


Our cake will be something simple a bit like this but I am making a cake topper of us and our cat to go on top.


My flowers will be something similar to this with smaller, less colourful ones for the bridesmaids



The bridesmaid dresses will be something like this




But the oldest girl (13) in fuschia pink and the 2 younger bridesmaids (10) in baby pink

For my dress I want to go for something long and sleek, white and light materials, very summery but I haven't got any pics to flash. Going wedding dress shopping this week Laughing

I want my hair like this or something similar with a small tiara.





We are having a cocktail reception with 2 cocktail flair waiters (who are friends of ours) and then a relaxed sit down meal in the marquee. Our centrepieces are similar to my wedding bouquet but more simple in a vase with pink and clear gel beads and a floralyte that will be turned on in the evening reception. We are having a sit down but relaxed wedding breakfast and then everyone will be going back out (hopefully into the garden if its not raining) for some entertainment (which we haven't decided on yet) while the marquee is jiggled around a little bit. then back into the marquee for the cake cutting and then the opening of the reveal curtain to a blacked out dancefloor area and the band playing our song for the first dance. Then we will party on into the evening until 11.45 when the band will end and everyone will be asked to gather around the front of the house (we will be indoors getting ready to leave at this point) we will then leave and we have a ice fountain corridor to the car (with a few fireworks in the background maybe). We are staying at our own house for the night (which my MOH and his BM will be "decorating")

haha looking at that I have just realised how much I really do have planned, just doesn't seem like I have done much of it yet!
