Hiya

Is anyone else getting married in August 2012? How is your planning going? My date is Friday 24th August 2012, I've got so much done already...not sure if I am doing everything too early but I can't help it!

Sophy xx

I'm 4th August. We're getting married in Australia, so I always feel I need to be slightly ahead of the game in terms of planning, but in reality - it's no different to planning a wedding at home! We're having around 60 guests to our main wedding, then a massive party of about 250 people at home on 15th September.

We did have a venue booked since June 2010, but in March this year, they emailed us to say they had refurbishment planned and would have to cancel our wedding. We're now in a bit of a legal battle with them for compensation, but in the meantime, we've booked to go back in 4 weeks' time to find another venue.

Other than that:

Church - booked
Transport between church and venue - booked (charter boat to include a Sydney Harbour Cruise)
Ceremony/Reception music - booked
Dress - bought and at my parents' house
Shoes - bought
Tiara - bought
Stationery - STDs sent and invitations being designed (by SIL2B)
Not bothering with a cake in Oz, but other SIL2B will be making one for our party at home
Photographer - booked
BM dresses - been to one appointment and got another in 2 weeks' time.
Favours - I know what I'm doing but it's too early to buy
Hair & Makeup - booked

Flowers - SIL2B (the same one doing the invitations) is making silk bouquets for me to take over - she's a florist

Other than that, I'm just picking up bits and pieces as I go along, thank you gifts etc.

Just want it to be here now!

Hi everyone,

You've all done quite a bit then! (Sorry to hear about your venue Popsicle - hope you get that sorted! My parents live in Australia so they will be flying home for the wedding - wish my mum was here for all the planning!)

So far we have got..

The venue booked - we are having the ceremony and the evening reception there

The photographer

Band for the evening

Bridesmaids dresses are all bought

Thought I had the flowers sorted but they have given me a new quote today that is too much because they are saying the jam jars I want to use for flowers are too big!

The Cake

I've ordered blank invitations which i will print nearer the time

Then I've bought lots of little bits like a guest book, flowers for the adult bridesmaids hair, and other little accessories...

Im also going to do a sweetie table and I've started collecting interesting jars for that

I think the stuff you can buy is never ending...

xxx

Hi Girls!

I'm also getting married August 2012 - 11th August.

You all  sound very organised!! So far I have booked:

Venue
Registrar
Photographer
Florist (my sister- saving me a fortune!)
Cake (my dad is brilliant at decorating cakes, although he is embarassed to admit it.. His day job is a lorry driver!)

I'm going dress shopping next week and am hoping I'll find some inspiration for a colour for bridesmaids etc as I can't make my mind up at the moment.

Hiya!

Have you been dress shopping before yet or is it gonna be the first time? I've been to about 10 shops (have driven my bridesmaids mad) but I just haven't had this 'feeling' yet that everyone talks about!

Has anyone had that? I'm lucky with my colours I have always known I wanted my bridesmaids to wear sage green.

I'm 10th August 2012.  you all sound so organized, think I should be a bit further on with it:

So far I've booked and paid deposit for venue (including catering)
Booked and paid deposit for registrar
Oraganized insurance
Made save the date cards - which are currently being given out.
Spoken to a piper - very got price - just got to call back to confirm booking.
and just today booked/paid deposit on acomodation for wedding night - which is in the grounds to the contry estate of the venue.

Next task is to find the photographer.

I have a date twin! :) Katie im also 10th August!

I think the next task for us is finding a florist for some guidance and help actually choosing flowers! I had initially chosen peonies but after talks with few different people at wedding fayres etc i have been warned they are quite heavy as a bouqet! Not really sure what to do, though i know for certain i will be having a yellow freesia and red rose tied into the bouqet to represent my nana and OH grandad who will unfortunately not be with us.

Soph as for dress shopping, i thought i was going to be exactly the same as you, visit every shop and never having 'that' feeling. Though went for a Maggie Sottero designer weekend in Januray this year, first dress shopping experience ever and ended up walking away with a total different designer! i knew it was the one when i looked at my mum and also my auntie and we all just cried! Dont worry, you will get there, when you least expect it no doubt!

Looking forward to sharing planning tips etc with everyone!! :)

I don't know if anyone else thinks this, but the fact that there's an August 2012 thread makes me feel like it's a lot closer! I got engaged in March 2010 and joined Fetti in June 2010 and there were only a handful of 2012 girls for the whole year!

Oh can I join in! I'm 6th August 2012.
Sorted:
Church
Church flowers
Reception Venue (Including canapes/dinner, not sure if I'm doing evening food yet as we're eating late and have very few extra guests)
Transport for me/us (a friend with a nice car is being chaffeur)
Bridesmaid dresses (are being made by my mum) - need to buy material
Cake (being made by H2Bs BIL - choosen design)
Insurance
Photographer (family friend)
Accomodation (for the bridal party in the venue)

Done some of:
Silk Flowers (me/bridemaids/buttonholes - picked)
Suits (he's picked them though)
Rings (again picked)
Honeymoon (picked and paying deposit in summer)
Singer/dj (need to ask them - family friends)
Chair covers (choosen who I want need to book/pay a deposit in summer)
Stationary (making myself - have most bits now, need some wording stamps and purple card and white card)

Still to do:
My Dress (going to try on in summer)
Favours (he thinks were not having any ;) )
Gifts (we've decided on the mums gifts (can't get flowers) probably get jewellery for the bridesmaids)
My accessories

As you can see lots has been put of until the summer. I'll be inbetween university courses and will hopefully have lots of time! I want as much as possible done then as I'm doing a PGCE September-July so won't have much time to plan!

I'm so excited atm - only got engaged in Feb and its all happened so fast! I'm sad and can not wait to start making my stationary (partly so I can send out the save the dates!!)

Everyone does seem so organised!! At least now when I get told I'm doing everything too early I can say I'm not the only one lol! Although i do keep buying stuff and not telling H2B! (MrsWtoB - that makes me laugh about your favours, sounds familar!)

I spend all day looking at websites for ideas too.

And yes it does seem close, I got engaged in February as well and was so excited straight away!

MrsLtoBe your venue sounds just like mine....what's it called if you don;t mind me asking?

And yes hopefully I will find a dress I love soon! When my mum comes back from oz in July we are goign dress shopping.

Soph xxxx

Soph - I do that too! Not that he'd mind or anything, but he doesn't get the whole buying little details thing, so it's easier not to bother showing him! He'd have a bit of a shock if he saw a box under our spare bed, which consists of:

Raffia for invitations/decorations
Little starfish charms off ebay
LOADS of little bits off Vistaprint that I've got using free emails, including t-shirts for the bridal party
Shoe/jewellery/underwear bags that I've bought from the For Sale board on here
Bridesmaid gifts
Table crystals

I'm sure there's more!

Hehe..it is funny I've got a box of stuff too that he walks past everyday and he hasn't even noticed it but he doesn't get the little details. Like he will just say do we need that?...I wanna buy birdcages off here this weekend for our centrepieces cos fresh flowers are working out too much and I know he's gonna say we don't need them! Maybe it is too early to buy them though....

In my box I've got little pegs to clip namecards to the wine glasses, a pair of shoes for me (although don't know if they are the ones I will wear), I DO stickers for the bottom of my shoes, flower clips for bridesmaids hair..I'm sure theres more that I can't think of right now!
