Hi, I am getting married next year and am looking for someone who can cater a traditional 8-course Chinese wedding banquet. I am Chinese myself though my fianc? is not so we want to incorporate both cultures. We don't want to hold the reception in a Chinese restaurant so are looking at normal wedding venues (hotels, country homes etc) and would like an outside caterer to come and cook there. Does anyone have any experience of finding caterers who can cook Chinese banquets? Any advice greatly appreciated. It will be for approx. 100 people and will be within 2 hours of London. Thanks.

Hi Lisa

Can I ask if you ever managed to find a Chinese caterer who was able to do the traditional wedding banquet? I'm getting married next year and like you I don't want to have it in a Chinese restaurant. My fiance is also non-chinese so wouls also like to accomodate both sides.

Any advise/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi I am also getting married next year and have the same exact problem as you where we do not want it in a typical chinese resturant etc.

I am finding it hard to find chinese chefs/organisations to cook at our chosen venue and would really ask anyone who is reading this to help in anyway, even if its ja link, someone you know...anything!

Much appreciated ;)

http://www.leigh-house.co.uk/

I recently phoned this place - and they cater off-site. It ranges from £600-£1000 per table of 10.  They do the traditional 8 course banquet and they sounded experienced when I called them to enquire for my own wedding.  They have their own cooking equipment to bring on site to a venue of your choice (providing the venue lets you) , (ie gas cookers, table wear, waiters etc)  The only thing they cant supply is knife and forks.

Worth giving them a ring to see how they can cater for you..  they are based in Bucks but can travel to your venue.

I personally will probably make a few more enquiries, visit their restaurant and taste their wedding banquet food and go from there

Anyway, hope this helps. x

Hi there,

I've read quite a few blogs and forums about outside chinese banquet caterers so there won't be any surprises in my questions but really need any help I can get as I'm struggling to source one.

I am chinese and my husband to be is english. We're looking into 2 options for our 2012 wedding:

1) Venue that will cater for 400 people - chinese restaurant (london based) or hotel / marquee (however am struggling to find an outside caterer)

or

2) As I'm struggling to find a decent venue that will fit 400 people or the option of having an outside caterer, we're considering having 2 seperate weddings so one will be at my parents local chinese restaurant (that will be able to fit 300 people and will be a full chinese banquet) and the other will be a modern chinese wedding for 100 people but we will still have a chinese banquet (but menu may be tweaked).

Does anyone out there know of a venue for 400 people? or know of an outside caterer (i've seen that Leigh house in Bucks do outside caterer but can't find any reviews of their service)???

Your advice/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Wendy,

Did you end up using Leigh House in the end? Any useful reviews you could pass on to me?

Thanks!

Hi Suprajen
Did you use Leigh House? Would love to have Chinese caterers instead of restaurant for the banquet but I'm struggling.
Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!
Thanks
