Your Mission... should you choose to accept it (sorry!) is ...

To try and find a cheaper reception venue so that I can prove to my OH it can be done!

Checklist:

1. Be pretty to look at, bit of wow factor, maybe some grounds for photos

2. Possibility of outside caterer?

3. Be in the Kent area (DA11 postcode)

4. Accommodation - at the property would be fab or near it would be great - not an essential though :)

We were originally looking at somewhere like Brands Hatch Place Hotel. This has a late availability package at £6,000 but the others are upwards of around £7,500 I think (includes dinner/drinks etc.)

Errrr....

Think thats it... any help greatly appreciated :)

I'm afraid I can't help with the area, but a good tip is to sign up to groupon/wowcher/kgb or similar. They often have excellent wedding reception deals. For example, the one they have on at the moment is in Buckinghamshire, (no good for you unfortunately!) but it's a £5.5k wedding reception for the price of£2.5k. There's always something popping up on one of those sites.

Leeds castle ;)

I went to a wedding reception at the Manor Hotel in Gravesend recently, it was nice but not the best of locations in terms of prettiness!

Thanks all.

I have found somewhere else during my 2 hour trawl of google! And........ Its more expensive :(

Do you think an evening meal is necessary? If the wedding was later would that be better? Hmmmm... The food/drinks etc are coming to £6k.... Thats whats causing the probs.:(

I reckon having a later ceremony, followed by afternoon tea or a buffet/BBQ/hog roast or something would be fab - and it's a great way of keeping the costs under control :)

I'm only having one set of guests and we're only having one meal - although we have canapes earlier on. It does save money.
