I have just been informed by H2B that the website Thomas Cook use for people to make contributions toward honeymoons has shut down and will not be reopening :x

We have sent out in the region of 250 invitation all stating that donations can be made on this website and some of our guests have already contributed. Thomas Cook say any money on our account will be sent to us. The real issue is we were hoping most people would donate on the website and therefore we would get the cash back in our account to put with our saving to buy a house.

We are now contacting all our guests and asking for cash instead of vouchers as we really dont need another expensive holiday when we are saving for a house.

I have had an awful day and this has just about finished me off :(

No need to reply just thought I should make peopl aware of the situation in case you are using Thomas Cook for you gifted honeymoon

Axx

Wow! I'm sure your guests will understand though. Did they say why it is shut?

No, we cant get through on the phone number they have posted even though they are meant to be open until 8pm. H2B is going to try again tomorrow and if that doesn't work will go back to the shop we booked the holiday though

Very poor service, No matter why they have closed it out of common decency they should have informed all customers using the service. I am sure your guests will be most understanding x

Hmmm I wonder what's going on with Thomas Cook. They were in the news because of some small crisis or other maybe a profits warning or such like. I went there to pick up brochures for our short honeymoon but didn't want to book with them 'just in case'. Im thinking we'll book ours last minute! I'm sorry about your honeymoon fund account. Im sure no one will mind sending money. We gave money for honeymoon as a suggestion on our wedding info sheets and no one seems to have minded xx

Thomas Cook just escaped going into administration did they not? I know there has been an announcement of a lot of job losses there. They maybe cant do schemes such as this in case they go under?

We are going into the branch where we booked the honeymoon on Saturday to talk with their customer service rep as no-one will tell us anything over the phone.

I am far more relaxed about it today and everyone I have spoken to is happy to give cash instead.

Hopefully its just this part of their business that is in trouble as I would hate to lose the honeymoon we have chosen

Please dont take this the wrong way but why have you asked for honeymoon money when you have no intention on spending it on a honeymoon :?

Just if I were one of your guest and found out the money went towards a house instead I may be bit put off.

Im sure if you told your guests its for a house they would still be happy to help you both set up your new home together x

The money people would be giving us would simply cover the cost of the honeymoon as we had to pay the balance 12 weeks before we get married and obviously people would not be giving us present before this time limit.

Once we return from honeymoon any money that is in the account gets transferred back to us so its as if we haven't paid the money out in the first place.

The reason we have mentioned the house is so that now we are asking for money people dont think we are just going to fritter it away on random stuff but so they felt that in place of a honeymoon they are helping to contrubute towards our future.
