Well I guess you were right about not getting a response!  I don't have any links I'm afraid but I know where to avoid if that helps.  Sandals are a definite no-go in my book - until the change in law which meant it was illegal their holidays were for heterosexual couples only.  Also, a lot of the countries they operate in have laws against homosexuality so probably best to just steer clear.

We have booked a week in Greece for immediately after the CP through James Villas.  We have our own Villa and pool and figured we could then ignore the world and not have to worry about being judged / having issues over getting a double room etc.  For our official honeymoon we have set up a gift list through trailfinders who have so far been fab - for eg I totally missed the Civil Partnership box on one of their forms and they rang me to ask me whether we wanted to use the word marriage or CP.  I am hoping this means they will be able to give us some good advice when it comes to booking the trip.

Other than that my only other tips are resorts.  If you want to be very much a couple on your honeymoon then Stiges in Spain, Lesvos, parts of Australia (the cities rather than the outback) and New Zealand would be good destinations.  You would need to be more careful with the Carribean.  Diva magazine is usually a good source of gay-friendly resorts.

I hope my rambling has been of some help.  It would be good to hear what other people are doing as we still have our official honeymoon to plan.

Thanks for your input MrsG2B, i was also wondering where to go. Going to do a last minute after the big day (hopefully get loads of cheques in the wishing well!!),  presumed all sandals would be out - we're not an overly "hands on" couple but would be nice to be able to be honeymooners!!! Will def have a look thru Diva for ideas.

Hi Vikster,

It depends what type of HOLIDAY you're looking for, really.  Are you looking for a city break?  A really quiet honeymoon?  Sun, sea and...sand?

It's probably not the #1 honeymoon destination ever, for various reasons, but Amsterdam is extremely gay friendly.

Similarly, most Western European cities (and their wider countries) are likely to be nonplussed by gay honeymooners, along with Scandanavia.  In my experience, I'd think twice about Southern Europe - Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, etc.  Sure, there are probably LOADS of good gay-friendly destinations in that region, but a lot of potential problems might stem from other tourists, rather than the locals.  I'm not sure if a boozy Majorcan beach resort is entirely appropriate for a romantic getaway, gay or otherwise!  Turkey is fab, but one has to consider the implications of gaying it up in a Muslim country!  Saying that, the locals are by and large extremely friendly and accommodating.

USA?  New York and other major Eastern cities, as well as California (don't forget San Fransisco!) should be cool.  Lots of hetero AND gay culture and sights to soak up.  The same applies for the major cities of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc.

Local attitudes and culture might dampen your experience in some places...Caribbean, South America, Middle East etc. spring to mind (with the M.E. having legal implications also!), but maybe best to ask around before counting out any of those options.

Best of luck! x

Oh no. I think this forum has been a little neglected. As has some of the content on the site.
I'll do my best to pick up the slack and keep the forums linked to relevant content. Watch this space... well not literally watch it.
Smiles:)

We're going on a mini-moon to Gran Canaria. We went there last year on a lastminute (must admit, I'd never have considered it before as I've heard about the abundance of stag parties, teens and the like) and we loved it. V. gay friendly - they have drag bars, gay hotels, a gay beach (men, of course, but that's how many gay people are over there)

I was worried how romantic it would be so we've booked a 5* hotel which is in a quiet secluded area on the sand dunes, but just a taxi drive away from gay and lesbian bars, clubs, comedy clubs etc so we can go mad in the evenings...

We're hoping to save up for a 'megamoon' - we want to travel around Asia together but will need to wait until we can steal the time to get away and do it!

I've been researching gay weddings to help market my business to this growing sector and found a link which might be useful. I know this will be too late to help the original asker - but may help others. Please note, the link below is NOT my site (I do venue decor and lighting services), but one I have found while researching!

Me and my wife-to-be are looking at Indian ocean destinations and went into our local branch of Kuoni, the sales assistant advised us that someone would be able to tell us whether we would have any trouble at the destination we end up booking. So far we are thinking of the Seychelles.

Hey-
We had a bit of a task to find a venue- we wanted to be in a tripical climate but had settled for Spain as we felt that we would ba able to enjoy each others company without prejudice.. but we felt that we wanted something a bit more special and have opted for Bali.  The island has a Hindu culture (as apposed to the rest of Indonesia being Muslim) and this made us optimistic about the same sex thing..  We found an amazing hotel and approached them direct and were clear that we were 2 women etc and they have been so welcoming.

We did find other places in Europe and again decided that the best policy was to be overt as it is our honeymoon- worst trauma would be to not be able to be with each other and relax...

Didn't find one particular  www that was really helpful...

Good luck- and be brave :)
