We're having our CP 1st May - getting the whole thing sorted in about 4 months so tis crazy here.  I also have been over on the B&G forum - bits of it still seem totally relevant as I am getting just as stressed about my hair / readings / outfit as everyone else!

So what are you guys doing for your CPs? We were trying to avoid replicating a straight wedding but seem to have failed!  We have a venue doing the whole thing, with a wedding breakfast and a party.  Me in a dress, wife-to-be in a suit.  Guess the tried and tested formula works!

Ditto........wanted something original, however that costs money so we have gone down the "normal" route, ceremony and reception in a hotel with wedding breakfast and evening buffet and party.  We are both wearing dresses i think, partner is still undecided but have yet to go properly dress shopping so soon know i guess.  We went to see venue yest (Birmingham) - im impressed and its quite a good deal.  One to see tomoz and another on friday. How many did you see before you decided on yours?  Where abouts are you?

We are having a civil ceremony, getting married at 5.15, so just haveing about 50 people to that, then another 80ish for the evening and just ahving one buffet. This is mainly to dave on the wedding breakfast as its far too much for our budget, also saves the hassle of top table with having split parents myself. And we are having sweets on the tables which will double up as the desert for guests aswell as cupcakes instead of a 3 tier traditional cake. Cant wait 108 days to go !! Woohooo !!

We're in East Sussex and saw one venue before we decided! We had 3 viewings booked for that day, fell in love with the first one but figured we should go look at the others as we had nothing to compare to.  Gave up after seeing the second venue as we just weren't getting the 'vibe' that we got with the first one and I think it just re-inforced how much we loved the first one

Hi there, i'm having my CP i july so pretty much organised. i'm wearing a dress n my partner's wearing a suit - having the suit made as you try finding a white suit that doesnt look like john travolta, esp as my partner is only 5' its been a nightmare!

As for everything else we're going down the traditional-ish route but there's definitely a niche in the market for more gay friendly items

We are getting hitched december 12th 2010, we are both so excited!! both wearing dresses, think we will end up looking quite girly. How did you all find the "giving notice" bit at the registry office?

Yet to do that.  Cant until 12 months prior so have a little time to wait to give notice.  Yes definitely agree there is a lack of same sex ideas, very much aimed at Bride and Groom , which can become a little annoying!

Giving notice was no problem, guy was really nice (prob helped that he was gay!!) bit bummed we dont get a proper "marriage" certificate, but then it is just a bit of paper. Hardest thing we had was proving our address as we'd just come out of a pub n lodging with my parents!  Have any of you had any bad reactions? We had one friend (straight I might add) who was always fine with us until we said we were getting married, then it was wrong in the eyes of the lord (btw she's a single mum!!!!)  some people still manage to surprise me with their blinkers!!

Giving notice was not an issue for us either - we were treated brilliantly.  Only slight niggle was that my work mate got a discount card for local shops when she gave notice of her wedding and we didn't get the same for our CP.

We've been pretty lucky with reactions so far - there were a few people we were concerned about and they have all been really positive.  We have just got back from meeting our Drag Queen DJ however... we may offend people yet!  I think there will always be those who don't understand / are scared by it / are plain bigoted, we just have to get on and be happy with who we are.
