**UPDATE**
Well I got home on Friday and bawled my eyes out again as I told h2b what had happened and he was brilliant. I was worried he would be upset, but he gave me lots of cuddles and told me these things happen all the time. He whizzed out the door with my ring and said he would sort it. He came back about an hour later with a serious face on... however, he had been a superstar!! He went back to where he had bought it (it was also resized there) and they told him it would have to be sent off for a repair. He argued that where it had been resized there were two visible cracks now on the outside, and that if was sent off to be repaired (again) surely the ring is never going to be very strong. The salesman then offered to refund the ring and put a brand new one through with a 2 year care plan for nothing!! I am not waiting for my brand new one to be delivered! Very happy bunny now

So pleased there is a happy ending to this story. I did something very similar with mine -smacked it with a car door and knocked the sapphire clear out in the car park of M&S - I burst into tears and finally found the stone on my car seat!
