hi everyone

was hoping for some advice/help

my wedding is fast approaching in sept and am having a dilemma re grooms/groomsmens suits

my colours are fuschia/ivory the bridemaids have fuschia dresses and really not sure how to tie in the colour for the men as we were unable to hire the same colour for the groomsmen to match the bridesmaids .....we decided on the groom wearing black suit and fuschia waistcoat cravat (which we had to buy) to match bridesmaid and groomsmen in black suits and ivory waistcoats cravats (which we could hire)

should the groom match the me or do you think this will work??

all help is much appreciated :)

I think it sound lovely! Could you buy matching ties/cravats for the groomsmen to wear with their ivory waistcoats? That might tie it all together :) x

We're getting married abroad so have avoided full suits as the jackets would never be worn so would be a waste of money. We originally thought about ivory waistcoats and cornflower cravats (my bridesmaids are wearing a really unusual sky blue sort of colour so that was the closest match) and h2b was going to wear an ivory cravat to be different BUT it all looked a bit plain with no jacket so now we have waistcoats with a blue swirl on for the groomsmen with the cornflower blue cravat, and h2b us just wearing an ivory waistcoat instead to stand out a bit and match with me better :) I don't think the waistcoats will be perfectly co-ordinated with the dresses but as long as we end up married at the end of it all I probably won't care :)

Does your h2b not mind wearing pink? Lol x

Hi! I'm wearing ivory, my BM's will be in sage green. My H2B is wearing an ivory cravat to match me and the Groomsmen are wearing sage green to match the BM's. I prefer the groom to match the bride cause he's mine  and will be dancing, walking out the church with me, and the groomsmen and BM's will be walking out the church with and dancing with the BM's. But thats entirely personal preference. You can do it whatever way around you like xxx

I think your groom should be wearing Ivory to match you as Lyllian said for the same reasons!

H wore green and the others wore ivory, thats how he wanted to do it so i let him, i dont think it matters as long as the groom stands out.

All our men are having the same ties and same coloured waistcoast, but H2Bs waistcoat is double-brested, whilst the others are just "normal".

I'd say that you can have whatever you want, there's no colour matching rules! If you want H2B to stand out, then I think that him having the brighter colour and the others the more neutral one would do that perfectly.

It's entirely your choice hun x

All mine matched each other (the wedding party men) it didnt matter to us one bit, the groom stood out as he was (and still is lol) the tallest member of the wedding party. :)

My OH point blank refused to wear ivory, so I think he is wearing burnt orange like the bridemaids, but I'm not 100% sure as its up to him, he knows the colour scheme. So yes I think they way you are doing it lindzk4 is perfectly fine :)

BHS do a Fuschia/cravat ensemble which might be a compromise of matching your ivory colour and the bridesmaids fuschia outfits. They are reasonably affordable and do look the biz!!

We are also having a bit of a dilemma with matching up too, I know Groom is going to match me but trouble is not sure if he is going to have a matching suit to the groomsmen yet!! And I am not sure if it will look right if he is completely different including a different tie/cravat!!?? My little bridesmaid/flowergirls are wearing Peach so was thinking of matching my pageboys up with peach cravats, and then my adult bridesmaids will be wearing possibly Black but a different colour sash so I think I am going to match the groomsmen to these (it may very well still be peach) - Its the groom I am having trouble with lol but traditionally he matches the bride and the groomsmen the bridesmaids xx

the colour scheme sounds lovely shelleyjayne - im sure as long as the suits are all the same colour it dosent matter whether it fits with the groomsmen at least he will stand out as he should x

Hi all

I actually work for a mens' formal hire company :) In general, the bride and groom do tend to match ie ivory on some part of the grooms' outfit, whether that be a waistcoat/cravat or tie/both. And the groom would possibly have a different button hole. BUT these are not hard and fast rules - every wedding is different, and really, you can do it however you want. In terms of ushers etc matching the groom, generally it looks better if they are in the same suit, as it gives more uniformity to the overall 'look'. The groomsmen also tend to wear something in the colour of the bridesmaids/wedding colours. But again, it's entirely up to you. Sorry if I sound like a bossy boots
