Hello and welcome!

My top tip is to haggle! Depending what day of the week your wedding is, there can be a fair bit of room for negotiation :)

Hi Kasey and welcome.

I think first of all you need to decide on what kind of day you want( formal, informal, fun, relaxed etc) then that way you can start deciding what kind of things you want then you (and all of us! :D ) can suggest cost cutting excercises and tips for keeping costs down

Hi :)
I would say think about what you feel is necessary for your day and haggle/ebay/DIY it. FOund a cute cake topper I liked that would have cost around £40 plus shipping from America.. I have started to DIY it with a maximum cost of £5 from ebay!
Enjoy the site :)

What's your budget Kasey, and how big is your wedding? Luckily you have lots of time. What have you booked so far?

DIY saves loads of money, also the biggest expense is of course the venue and feeding everyone, so getting married Monday-Friday and off season will save you lots. You can also reduce costs by saying to venues/suppliers: "I have xxxxxx to spend on ..... (cake, venue, photos, hair/makeup), what can you do for me?". Always say a bit less than you have, this will leave you some room to negotiate the price.

Ask everyone you know who is talented in every way to help with the wedding - do you know anyone who bakes cakes, does hair/makeup, is a seamstress, or really crafty with paper and scissors? Ask them all for help!

Local colleges often offer an option to hire students to do stuff for free or nearly free (for building experience), so you can get your cake done this way for example, or even full catering!

We have loads of articles on how to save money, have a look here: http://www.confetti.co.uk/organising-planning/budget/

Hope it helps! :)

I'm a budget bride :)

I have 4 bio kids and a non bio (stepson) so we are DIY all the way.
So far ebay has been my best friend but not my bank balance bought loads already..
But as said above most of our money will be on the food.

Im not getting married till May 2014, but I've already made my save the date cards with some ribbon I bought off ebay that has our names on and date of wedding with some sticky gems.
I've made our invites with card blanks I got for about a fiver I think - till I saw 50 card blanks + envelopes in morrisons for 2quid grrr - bought them anyway so I can make the thank you cards.
Oh and I've also made activity books for the kids, i've done 10 so far, need to make some more when I have a crafty urge lol.

Dunelm mill had some nice silky flowers, Ikea ace for vases - i've bought some beer glasses for vases - long n thin, 6 for £4 will pretty them up.

My freebies -
Auntie is a Make up artist, and can do hair
TOG - my sisters friend
Flowers - work supervisor who is also going to dress the room for me, she said buy organza and/or tulle and i'll make it pretty! lol.
Cake - I'm making this
Sweet treat table, loose take on sweetie buffet but including cakepops, cupcakes, biccies, fudge - all things I love making.
Brother works in hotel industry striking up deals with hotels, so he's going to get us a deal on a hotel for the night.

Think that is it at the mo lol.
