Hi everyone,

Just wondering how we're getting on with our planning? I was being super organised, but it's gone down hill with the changing of the venue!

I am sending off my cancellation leter for the other venue today. Then the bloody events chap rings me and asks me if there's a problem as he's seen that I've asked for a brochure for someone else (he left a voicemail!) He'll get the letter in a couple of days. Being cheeky and seeing if they will give any of the deposit back, seeing as it's more than 2 years til the date we booked! No harm in asking I suppose, and it was an awful lot of money!

On the upside - bought a lovely new wedding planning book :D

Helooo! OoOo im loving this post haha! Makes me feel like im not the only one in the world waiting for so long!

Hope you get your venue sorted hun! I have just got to put my deposit down for mine by next week so that it's officially booked for Fri 6th July 2012! wuw! I did most of the hunting and H2B came to the final ones haha! Managed to fit it in whilst I was off!

I have actually found my dress too haha, don't know whether I have done it too quick but I love it! Have put a deposit down but am still going to shop and look around so im sure it's the one!

Other than that I haven't done anything but mooch around on the internet and buy as many mags as I can haha, so excited! I do very sadly have a little wedding planner book but it's still pretty empty! Can't wait to fill it up!

Sounds like you're doing pretty well.

I have a rough guestlist in mine :) Going to start buying a few more wedding mags I think. I've been told it's a good idea to make a moodboard of things you like.

My wedding will be 12th May 2012 (Saturday!) Want to book my new venue, but Mum doesn't want me to yet, so the lady is holding the date for me until someone else is interested. But I will pay it soon as I want 2012 prices :)

I want to look for dresses, but I need to shift some serious weight first. So I'll start looking around Xmas :) so excited for that.

I know pretty much what I want for everything... just a case of getting it. H2b just nods and says "whatever you want" which is nice, but annoying, because I'd like him to have some input!!

I know you've told me, probably, but where are you getting married (I'm useless at remembering!)

I just can't help myself haha...there's so much to look at! It was my mums organising that got me shopping for a dress but i'm glad now! Best of luck with the new venue, how horrible is the wait when it's held for you but not quite yours yet argh! Im having a church wedding hopefully followed by reception at somewhere called Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa! Im from Liverpool so it's very close to me! What about you? Where's this new venue?

Bless your H2B haha, mines the same! But the other day he walked in on me & my mum looking at more stuff online and he was like 'hey let me have a good look'! Very shocked! I am sure his interest will dwindle down to nothing very soon though when the world cup starts!

Oh yes! I remember looking now, and thinking it was lovely!! It's hard to remember sometimes when you're reading about everyone's venues!!

I'm hopefully getting married at Harewood House (www.harewood.org) well, we will be, just need to pay the deposit. My mother is just a pain and doesn't think we should part with any money, igven that we've lsot the deposit for the other venue (oops!) Admittedly, I think the previous one was the one, but they slipped in a lot of extra charges, and while we probably could afford it, I didn't want to worry about not being able to afford it closer to the time.

My mum keeps saying "Anna, it's 2 years away, don't start thinking about it!" (yeah right!) but then she's telling me she's doing a floristry course so she can do my flowers, and that she's found this, this and this that would be nice! My God lol She keeps getting wedding magazines handed to her from women at work lol Bless. She saw my new venue before my h2b.

He keeps just saying that as long as I'm happy it's fine, but it's annoying me now, I just want him to say something nice or have an opinion, not that I would necessarily listen to it :P

Bloody hell Naki! That is a lot!! Lollipops for your Save the Dates? Cool!! When are you sending them?

My venue was booked, as well as registrar, but we've changed the venue now... so that's back to virtually square one.

Got my colours decided, and a draft guestlist. I know what I want for flowers, centrepieces etc, picked my BMs, but haven't started buying anything yet.

Want to get something like an album or something, to keep my engagement cards in, and then an invite and other bits from my wedding, as a momento. I could get a box, or some sort of photo album. A keepsake box might be a good idea.

I really want an engagement party, but not sure we can afford it. We could have one in the summer, when my friends have all finished their exams, but I don't know. :s

Our engagement party its just at our house spending £100 on food and drink just keeping it close family and friends.

My theme is charlie and the chocolate factory so im buying these lollipops http://www.chocolatebuttons.co.uk/whirl ... rooks.html and buying round printable stickers and just sticking them on there. few curling ribbons around them and im done! i estimate it will cost around £50 for my save the dates.

Chosen my bridesmaids and i know what dresses there having but not doing that until much closer to the time.

Im buying a large photo frame so people can sign it and then gona put our wedding picture in it and have it hanging in the living-room.

Im full of ideas and great at research if you get stuck!

Thanks :)

I want those lollipops as favours/placecards (saw it in a wedding magazine!) put a little label tied on to the lolly stick with ribbon. I don't know if I'll have it, but I love the idea. I really want them, but only if I can get them in the right colours!

Are you posting your Save the Dates, or just giving them out? I love the idea of your theme!! I am thinking about getting personalised M&M's... I think they look really cool, but the shipping charges are massive!

Love those photoframes, think they look ace :) Will probably get one of those too :)

If we have an engagement party, it would just be at our flat too, but it's quite small and we only have 1 spare bed... my friends and family all live far away, so would need to put them up somewhere. But it could work :) I'd love one if I could :)

What is your dress like? Love looking at dresses :D Got 4 stone to shift and keep off before the wedding! Want to be a size 12 (currently a 16... only 5 foot tall!)

Did you see Heston's feast... with the lickable wall paper? lol. Oooo chocolate fountain?

I think you look amazing in that dress!! It's gorgeous and really suits you :) I have a pretty crappy family history heart wise, that's one of my reasons :) I just want to be how I was at school when nobody thought I was fat. I'm too short to carry this much weight lol You are totally right though, h2b's love us for who we are :) I mostly want a flatter stomach and no bingo wings, not bothered about anything else :P

I LOVE the Charlie and the Choc Factory theme! Such a good one! I'm excited for you and it's not even my wedding!!

I know, I have had a recent surge in Facebook friends and people keep asking me who they are lol. My 'fetti ladies :P I love it on here, everyone is so kind and supportive. :) Mostly, anyway. You can see how much I love it from the number of posts I've done since I joined lol

I'm going to see if I can find swirly lollies now :P Have you seen the Willy Wonka bars for invitations/save the dates? They've got golden tickets in. Will try and find the link if you want it :) I've also got one for retro sweets if needs be :)

We're not making much progress at the minute. Originally we wanted to get married April 2013 but we're waiting for a quote from our favourite venue which unfortunately is being sold back to the Castle estate in May 2012 soooo depending on the quote (ie, if it's reasonable enough!) we might move the wedding forward to April 2012. I'm secretly hoping we do that because I'm overexcited haha.

So we can't really move forward on actual serious planning until we get the quote and work out what we're doing. We're going to see another venue this Friday which we also really like, and then another on the 9th.

I've written a rough guest list though and asked both sets of parents if there's anyone they want to invite. I also have a scrapbook of ideas and one online.

We've had two seperate quiet engagement...fancy meals, one with our friends and on Saturday we had one with both sets of parents and siblings. First time they'd all met and it went really, really well! Would've loved to have had a big proper party but all our extra money is going towards the wedding!

xxx
ps. Naki, your dress is gorgeous!

My wedding date is the 14th of July 2012 (how exciting is it to actually say that!).

I have my venue booked which is also for our ceremony too, the deposits paid on that too.  I also bought my dress which was a bit of an accident but again I don't see me changing shape too much.  I'm a size 12 just now, could do with a stone and a bit off but will still fit in my dress as its a lace up.  The dress is on a payment plan for the year so I suppose technically its not 'bought' until next April.

We had our engagement party at our flat which was great.  We were planning on having a family meal too but unfortunately my Grandad died just after we got engaged so didn't really seem appropriate.  We're waiting until the summer for that.

Can't help looking at all the little details but am very chilled out about it now I have two of the big things.  Plus don't want to buy anything I'll have to store because knowing me it will just get lost/broken and don't really have that much extra storage space.

Its really good to hear from other people who are in the same position i.e. organised and excited but still have such a long wait.  Haven't got a ticker yet because it will just frustrate the hell out of me,  although lovely confetti informs me its 115 weeks away. :(

Hi Mrs Btobe - sounds like you're very organised :)

Sorry to hear about your granddad :( *hugs*

I haven't actually done any of those engagementy things, as my friends are spread all over, but I think I might have some sort of meal out or something over the summer :)

God I want to start looking for dresses :(

It's nice to know you're not the only one, isn't it? :)

ElenaLucie - it's good you might be able to have it sooner. :) It'll be good when you get it sorted.

Sent my cancellation letter out today, recorded delivery.

I've got most of my guestlist sorted, but h2b hasn't finished his side. Pain in the bum. And need to see if there's anyone he wants top invite for evening only. Can't really do that with any of mine, as they live to far away.

Woop :) x

Thanks, thankfully I know he was happy for us and liked my H2B which defintely helps.   Our engagement party was the week after his funeral but it was already planned and my cousins that were coming all said to keep it where it was.

We planned our engagement party for 6 weeks after we got engaged and let everyone know five weeks before which gave most people plenty of time to come.  Set a date in the future and just plan it.  You'll only do it once! (well...hopefully!).  I sat H2B down the week after we got engaged and got him to write his side's guest list then checked with his Mum.   Thankfully my MIL2B and my Mum are pretty cool about the whole thing and just keep saying it will be my big day and I can do what I want!!

Are you going to book your new venue soon?  What kind of extras did they try and squeeze in?  As far as I'm aware my venue is pretty straight forward and they are not trying to get extra bits in.  We actually went with them because they included some extras.

My oldd venue dropped in loads of money AFTER we'd paid the deposit, and it is an awful lot.

New venue will be booked soon, just holding off a little, will wait til June or July to pay, unless someone else wants the date, in which case I'll do it sooner. 1 year and so many months sounds better than 2 years! They threw in all sorts... free entry to the house and grounds for life, a free dinner on our 1 year anniversary, complementary afternoon tea, chair sashes and covers for free etc etc. Love thme for it :P Also the venue hire is the deposit so it's not just extra random money.

Changing to the new venue is halving the price of our wedding! So that's good, although I would have gone for the first venue, if I wasn't so worried about the money. Just got to wait for a letter back now :S I bet it will be dead snotty and horrible and I'm worried about it :(

Might see when friends are free for some sort of little party :)

Not asking MIL2B if there are people she wants to invite. There won't be any... I'm not going to go in to it but she is a nightmare! Vile little woman!

Have you thought about anything else, like colour scheme or favours or cake or flowers or anything? :P

I wish mine was throwing in chair covers.  It going to cost upwards of £500 and thats just for the wedding ceremony and breakfast.  Thinking we might just leave it.  Our receptions in a different room anyway.

I haven't really thought much anything yet.  I know our colour will probably be a dark red of some form though.  Have you?  My H2B is pretty attentive when it comes to ideas.  He isn't one for picking up a magazine but is very up for discussing things which is great.  Had a very long day at work last week and as soon as I came in the door he said "your cup of tea is on the coffee table and heres your new confetti catalogue that came in the post today".

We've had a horrendous weekend, think we've had the noro virus.  He was very ill friday/sat and then monday I was sooo bad.  Feeling a lot better this afternoon but am still off work so wedding things are cheering me up!

Oh no! Hope you're both feeling better. That is my worst nightmare as we've only got one bathroom, and I just wouldn't be able to cope.

The throwing in of the chair covers made me very happy, as, while I know they're not necessary, I do think they look nice, and it saves me having to sort it out :)

Aww bless your h2b for doing that :) Mine just ignores me lol or says "whatever you want" which is nice, but I want him to have some input!

My colours are probably dark purple with a hint of teal, silver and ivory. I wanted turquoise, but mum suggested that it doesn't suit everyone and so I should pick another colour too... basically... and I came up with purple, and my h2b says he would prefer that, but I want ot keep some element of turquoise!

I'm waiting for news of uni, been off for a while, and Confetti keeps me entertained :) as does my little bunny :) Bless her. She's nuts!
